Permits and Forms: Notice of Commencement
In the Florida roofing industry a Notice of Commencement is a form included as part of your permit package. Filed at the local courthouse in accordance with Chapter 713, of the Florida Statutes. It's purpose is to announce to everyone that improvement will be made to the property described. Once a house has been permitted, the Notice of Commencement will be collected by the inspector during the initial site visit. The Notice of Commencement will expire one year from the date of recording or the contractor can file a Notice of Termination to close it. Ensure all payments made to your contractor are done prior to the expiration of the Notice of Commencement. This form protects you and your contractor.
