Finding a roofer ….
When your roof has failed due to aging, leaks, storms or hurricanes it is time to get a new roof. How do you even start the process? First, ask around, has your neighbor recently had a roof done? Is there a roofer in the neighborhood? Family member, coworker or church community? If no one knows a roofer then go to your local building department. Did you know that in the State of Florida all certified and registered roof contractors have to sign up with the counties they are working. The registration entails sending a copy of the roofing license, business tax receipt, certificates of liability insurance and workmans comp as well as a copy of the license holder's drivers license. Your building department has done the basic work of verifying the roofing company for you which is a great resource. If you can't find someone in your county website then you can always look online. One of my go tos is Home advisor / Angi list. As a contractor-member for over 13 years I can say they verify their contractors as much as the counties but with added criminal and credit checks. You can also read the reviews and see other people's true experiences with that contractor.
